Project Hail Mary

Wow, what a surprise! Our members have chosen Andy Weir’s “Project Hail Mary” as our new Monthly Pick (August 2026). It will be discussed in our next semimonthly meetups.

Science Fiction is so much more than aliens and spaceships. It can be philosophy, comedy, and drama all in one. Contrary to popular belief, it looks less into the vastness of space out there and more into the human condition within us all.

And Andy Weir proves it. 🚀

What is it about?

A lone astronaut wakes up millions of miles from Earth with no memory of how he got there—or why he’s been sent on a desperate mission into deep space. As fragments of his past begin to return, he realizes that the fate of humanity may depend on him solving a problem that seems almost impossible.

Project Hail Mary is a fast-paced science-fiction adventure combining space exploration, scientific puzzles, humor, and a surprisingly human story.
